Los Dandy’s were a Peruvian cumbia band formed in the 70s by the great Héctor Farfán (Los Beta 5, Los Destellos) featuring the superb vocals of the legendary Oswaldo “Guajiro” Ortega (Los Guajiros, Los Destellos) on most of their songs.
This is their rare album from 1985, originally released on the tiny Bambú label.
A great mix of cumbias, guarachas and tropical rhythms with cool Atari-styled electronic effects, reverb drenched electric guitars, infectious vocals and incredible lyrics.
New cover design, remastered sound, insert with photos and liner notes.
RIYL: LOS DESTELLOS, LOS BETA 5, LOS SHAPIS, CHACALÓN, CHICHA, ELECTRONIC CUMBIA…
Rebajada is a slowed down and lowered in sound cumbia, which on the one hand is much more danceable and on the other gives a close look at the complexity of the genre. A capital discovery of a phenomenal scene taking shape over two decades.

I have been several times in Belém and around in the delta of the Amazon & Tocantins rivers, went to carimbó little festivals in the middle of Marajó Island, taking analog photos of these afro-delta traditions, between 2000-2010 ... this release is huge, I pay homage to Samy Ben Redjeb for suceeding such a project! I hope one day Analog goes for French Guyana, Martinique & Guadeloupe vintage sounds. These CARIMBÓ-SIRIA & candomblé songs are FANTASTIC ! Chat-verre
